Rick, Thanks for your Friday evening dance lesson stories! Especially loved your instructor’s savoring advice! Great take on the disciples stepping up too!

They were on Friday evenings and a wonderful way to start a date night. Our instructor made it clear that the man had to lead. He would often say, the guys should savor that one hour of the week where we are in charge. Similarly after our Lord was resurrected and the Holy Spirit was dispatched; it was clear that the disciples had to step up and they were transformed into strong leaders after being clueless during Jesus time of ministry. Thanks for your insightful writings.

Aahh…I remember, like you, “I hope the next song is a slow dance!” 🙂 I was a teenager when disco was the rage and my girlfriend and I spent so much time practicing! It was a chore! I was not good at all. Pressure!

I love it Brett! Fortuna favet fortibus, Fortune Favors the Brave! Your personal story hits home with me and I am glad you are overcoming the worry of failure. Another trait of mine that was not supposed to being passed on! Love your last paragraph rooted in the Christian faith. Happy Easter!

After what 5 or so seasons of coaches pitch baseball it was time to progress to kids pitch. I bailed because I was fearful of striking out and embarrassing myself. I was the best hitter on all my coaches pitch teams but had 1 awful practice where we had to wear a batting helmet and a different coach pitched who I wasn’t used to and I couldn’t hit a thing. Next was batting cage where I wasn’t used to the speed and couldn’t hit a thing. My perfectionism got the best of me and instead of working at it to get better, I gave it up.

I’ve had other times of not instant success wavering my mental fortuity to stay the course, but after many failures I hope I’ve grown and realized it’s ok to fail and just keep trying. That’s really the important thing in the end. Not giving up. Aint easy…

I just learned last week the meaning of an acronym that addresses all this and ill let you figure out where it comes from and tell me in person:

fortuna favet fortibus

Fortune favors the brave

My source for this information is rooted in the Christian faith, and Jesus commands us to be brave. Like commanding Peter to step out of the boat and onto the water and come to him. He manages a step or two before fear takes over and he sinks. Jesus rescues him. He tells his disciples before going to the cross to not fear that he’s going way and he will be with them always. The Holy Spirit comes and provides them strength, gifts, and help. God never leaves us, from beginning to the end. He was upset with Adam and Eve for disobeying and he did remove them from the garden of Eden, but he clothed them and led them on. From beginning to end God hasn’t left us. He came to die on a cross for us, so that anyone who believes in Him will never die but have eternal life in Heaven.

fortuna favet fortibus

There is only one little comment I have to make! I am not a sports person at all, so the references to the sports teams I found boring to me. But after that part I loved it. Once again it was nice that you wrote about the responsible people, meaning, me! I really as usual enjoyed this blog! Write on my friend, write on!!
